A Cocker Spaniel - Your Perfect Pet
Cocker Spaniels traits are probably the closest thing to perfection in the canine world of pets. Remember Disney's Lady and the Tramp? Tramp was a nondescript terrier-type dog. Lady, on the other hand, was a sensitive, demur Cocker Spaniel, winning the hearts of millions of families over the years. Lady is a very accurate portrayal of the breed.
The Cocker is such a pretty and graceful dog that it's hard to imagine that this breed was developed to be a working dog. They were able to work tirelessly alongside hunters and sportsmen. Now, the spunky Cocker has few of its former hunting instincts, and takes its new place as a popular family pet. Since Cocker Spaniels are not high-energy dogs, they do well in apartments and town houses. The do need to be exercised daily and if there is someone around that likes to throw balls or sticks your dog will be in “fetch” heaven.
Their coat does require a fair amount of grooming, more so if you want them to have that beautiful feathery hair. If you don't keep the Cockers coat clipped short, you should be prepared to brush them at least three times a week.
A Cocker Spaniel is sweet, loyal, playful, trustworthy, easily trained, and adaptable - all of which are much sought after traits in a family pet. You are proud of your Cocker Spaniel for good reason, show everyone what a perfect pet looks like; wear a shirt proudly proclaiming "Property of a Spoiled Rotten Cocker Spaniel". Or, if you have a few letters to catch up on or thank you notes to write why not do it on Cocker Spaniel Note Cards, explaining the meaning of beauty. Be proud of your pet and let everyone know it.
