The Shar Pei is an ancient Chinese dog originally used as an all around farm dog to hunt, guard and protect. Later it was used in dog fighting as its wrinkly skin made it difficult to grab and hold onto. The Shar-Pei is one of only two breeds with a unique blue-black tongue.
